What is Dandruff? How to cure dandruff? Why do you have dandruff?

Updated: May 29, 2024

Most people see dry flakes on their scalp and call it dandruff. There are two reasons for flakes in the scalp and in this article, we will discuss them both in detail. By the end of this article, you will know: What dandruff is, its Treatment, causes, and solutions.

Check out the Video on Cyn Doll TV (Guru 101) for our lecture on dandruff!

Visually dandruff shows up as thick flakes on the scalp. Your scalp is meant to flake during a 28-day cycle known as skin cell turnover. When you have dandruff your cycle is every 7 days.

(Anti-Fungal, Anti Bacterial)

The common treatment is head and shoulders due to its formulation using "Ayrithione zinc" Which is banned in Europe due to its toxic release into the reproductive system. Dandruff is a fungal infection of the scalp. This fungus is called Malassezia. Time is part of the normal flora(Fungus) Which is known to eat fatty lipids.

We all have good bacteria and bad bacteria, Malassezia is this fungus gone crazy due to low maintenance on the scalp. When the fungus is allowed to grow it takes control of your scalp, when the environment is damaged so are the good bacteria on your scalp. The microbe changes its form due to the condition of the host which causes the immune system to react causing inflammation to fight the new fungus dandruff is an imbalance of the microflora on your scalp causing an immune reaction of rushed skin cell turnover.

There are friendly yeast, bacteria, and microflora inside and out of the body that helps your body run effectively. You need the fungus but you have to control it. Microflora eats lipids"fats". It eats the sebum coming from the oil gland to keep the scalp healthy and balanced. This lipid does not like all fats it only likes saturated fats, it likes to eat triglycerides.

Triglycerides are the principal constituents of oils and fats. Coconut oil and palm oil are rich sources of medium-chain triglycerides. Microflora doesn't like the omega 6 fatty acids which are the inflammatory acids soybean, corn oil, sunflower, and sunflower oil.

When you ingest coconut oil and palm oil your work with your body's microflora and you get to increase and maintain your scalp health. a diet rich in omega-6 fatty acids causes inflammation in the body which works against your scalp health. A lot of the food you eat kills the microflora which causes inflammation in the gut which shows up on the scalp and all over the body.

Coconut oil is great for hair from within but on the scalp, it feeds the bacteria its favorite food while blocking the follicle. Coco nut oil is fat. Over 83% of coconut oil is saturated fat typically found in animal products like dairy & meat 13.6 of fat for every tbsp of coconut oil.

When coconut oil is used outside the body on the scalp it will be eaten by the microflora on the scalp. If you have microflora that is off balance after taking antibiotics you can add palm oil or coconut oil as 15 min treatment but you must follow with a clarifying shampoo. Coconut oil should never be applied daily. You will overfeed the good bacteria on your scalp causing dandruff.

When the scalp is fed too much the body fights against it causing inflammation in the sebaceous gland. Now with the imbalance of good and bad bacteria, the body fights against itself to fix the problem.

Hi Cyn, I was wondering if it's safe to use a DIY product I've been using for about a year. It's a scalp scrub made with coffee grindes, mixed with black seed oil, and 2-3 drops of eucalyptus oil or rosemary oil. An esthetician told me that it's good for dandruff. I used to use it after shampoo, but after listening to you, I started using it before shampoo.

I haven't had any issues with it, but I wanted to check if there is anything bad about it. If so, I'll completely stop.
